FAQ

  • Attendance

You are allowed to miss two classes per course. If you must miss class due to an illness or an emergency, please email your professor stating the reason for the absence. Your attendance is directly related to goals in this program and ultimately in your success of preparation for college. Our goal is to deliver a high quality program that builds on each lesson and attendance is vital to your learning success. For Asynchronous courses (courses taught completely online with no days and time and are self-paced), student attendance is not required, however a similar standard is set. If a student misses two assignments they may be in violation of the attendance policy. The same rules apply about contacting the professor and letting them know if you are ill or some other event has occurred.

  • Withdrawal Refunds

It is the intention of Get Ahead Prep to provide students with the best learning opportunities, and we realized that issues arise that may delay participation in the course. Students enrolled in virtual face-to-face courses will receive a full refund if they withdraw PRIOR to the first day of classes. Students enrolled in asynchronous (self-paced) courses may receive a full refund within 48 hours from the date of their enrollment. No student will be withdrawn by a Get Ahead Prep Instructor without prior communication to the student.

  • Grading

Get Ahead Prep wants to provide avenues for students and families to track their successes. Grading rules are the same for Virtual Face-to-face courses and Asynchronous courses. We grade students using a Pass or No Pass policy. Students earning a Pass will receive a personalized certificate of completion in the mail. Final course grades will be posted within one week of the course end date. If a student would like to appeal a grade, s/he may complete the grade appeal form within one month of the course ending. Once they submit the form, they will receive a response within 7 days. An incomplete will be used for extreme circumstances.

  • Courtesy and Code of Conduct

Get Ahead Prep’s Code of Conduct promotes a positive attitude in a learning environment and encourages the development of positive relationships among its students. Get Ahead Prep reserves the right to address any off-campus conduct deemed to be significantly affecting in-class relationships and/or learning environment. Students are expected to show respect to adults at all times and treat others with respect. Disruptive behavior is monitored and given one warning. If disruptions continue, removal from course is a possibility. Students should attend online classes in an area free from background noises. Checking cell phones during class is disrespectful and should be done before or after class. Get Ahead Prep operates on an honor system, which means students are expected to be truthful, honest, and upright in their words and actions as a matter of personal conscience and beliefs. Violations of the honor system can result in consequences that lead to parental conferences. Use of profanity is not permitted. Discussions are monitored for the same disrespectful language and will be handled by the same procedures. Get Ahead Prep directors reserve the right to withdraw students due to disciplinary distractions.

  • Statement on Academic Integrity

All students enrolled on Get Ahead Prep virtual face-to-face courses or asynchronous courses have a responsibility to only submit work that reflects their own analysis, critical thinking, and hard work. Students must follow directions given by their professors with all assignments. Instances of academic integrity violations include, but are not limited to plagiarism, cheating, fabrication, collusion, self-plagiarism, and falsifying documents. Failure to adhere to the Academic Integrity policy will lead to consequences. The consequences will depend on the nature of the violation and can range from a zero on the assignment to a No Pass in the course.

  • Participation and Discussions

Class discussions may be a regular part of each course including Virtual Face-to-Face or Asynchronous. As training in preparation for advanced high school courses leading to college success, students are required to participate in these discussions. Any time a class includes discussion that leads to critical thinking, there are bound to be many differing viewpoints. We will embrace the differences each student brings to the discussion. These differences elevate the discussion and create an environment where all involved in the discussion are pushed to think and learn in new ways. We will often disagree on viewpoints with sensitive subjects, but it is expected that faculty and students will respect all viewpoints voiced in class discussions or writing assignments.

  • Expectations in Remote Learning Courses with Zoom

To encourage an inclusive and welcoming class environment, students should work to the best of their ability to engage with their instructors and peers using all technology features available to them. This includes Virtual Face-to-face and Asynchronous courses. Individual instructors will set clear expectations and policies that reflect active engagement. Students should work with their instructors to meet all expectations and troubleshoot ahead of time to prevent any obstacles.

  • Homework
